While we were away visiting family in Missouri, one of our family members passed on. Helix, our very fat cat is no longer with us. Helix became ill while staying with friends over the holidays. It wasn't anyone's fault, Helix suffered from a urethral blockage (inability to pee) and got very sick very fast. While the vet said an expensive surgery could have taken care of the blockage, there was a good chance there would be a re-occurrence of the blockage. Not being able to afford one $1000 surgery, let alone multiple surgeries, we made the decision to have Helix euthanized. It was a horrible decision to have to make, especially since we were 3000 miles away and couldn't even say good-bye. No one is taking his death harder than Helix's brother, Galileo. For three days now Galileo has searched for Helix around the house, meowing loudly for his friend. It's heartbreaking. I think Galileo speaks for all of us. Helix you will be missed.
