The Never-ending Battle

I decided to draw the line at 7 lbs. That's way too much weight for one summer! Yesterday the calorie-counting began again. I spent $100 at the grocery store buying fruit, veggies and low-cal frozen lunch options. According to the diet software I am using, if I want to lose 15 lbs by December I need eat 300 calories less than my body burns every day(diet power). I'm guessing I burn 400+ calories during my hour long swim workouts, so on the days I swim I could eat 2000 calories worth of food and still meet my goal and then some. It's HARD to eat less than 1800 calories a day. Which is probably why I've gained weight again.

I also think that swimming has actually increased my caloric intake - I'm absolutely famished when I get back into lab after working out. I eat anything I can get my hands on! Which is why I am now stocking "smart pop" kettle corn in lab, as well as oranges, apples and other various healthy items to be on hand when I need to snack. The popcorn is actually a good option. I can eat the ENTIRE bag and only have eaten 240 calories and popcorn is high in fiber which makes it particularly filling and due to it's other digestive properties - acts like negative calories.

I think this is one battle that I'm never going to win - but one I will always be fighting. Sometimes I really hate genetics.
