Breech

Change of plans. Baby has decided to be breech. I'm not sure if the doctors have just had the butt confused with the head for the last few weeks or if the baby turned this week, but an ultrasound confirmed this morning that he/she is a Frank Breech. So, we have a C-section scheduled for Monday morning. The doctor has offered to attempt turning the baby prior to the C-section on Monday if we want, but we haven't decided yet and she isn't all that optimistic that it will work. The baby is getting big (will be 6 days late on Monday), it's painful and risky. Not to mention an epidural followed by induction of the labor with pitocin (synthetic oxytocin) would be required for the procedure and they'd have to be ready to do an emergency C-section if the baby goes into distress.

Anyway, I'm still adjusting to the idea. But wanted to give you the news. Hopefully we'll have some baby pics up on my blog by Monday night or Tuesday. I'm trying to focus on having a healthy baby and less on how the baby arrives.
